The SANDOC Task Force recognises the importance currently attached to doctoral education and research excellence, notably in the further development of the European Research Area. by according greater emphasis to this field, the Task Force is designed to build on the work already initiated by the Santander Group through the activities of SANBOL.

The mission of the SANDOC Task Force is to collect, improve and share expertise and good practice in doctoral education and research training based on the experience and achievements of SG Members. The Task force also seeks to promote similar exchange between post-doctoral researchers.

 

Key and emerging issues for the Task Force include:

  • contributing to the training of doctoral supervisors, and encouraging innovative practises in supervision;
  • fostering institutional cooperation;
  • promoting joint doctoral programmes;
  • improving research careers and career development;
  • developing quality control criteria for doctoral programmes.

To achieve these objectives the Task Force will undertake a number of activities:

  • thematic workshops and seminars;
  • mobility schemes for doctoral students;
  • the building of a doctoral network between SG universities;
  • participation in the EUA Council for Doctoral Education and similar pan-European initiatives;
  • the dissemination of results and findings.
