02/03/2009 SG WORKSHOP ON COOPERATION IN THE FIELD OF WORK PLACEMENTS AND INTERNSHIPS
The workshop on the ERASMUS Placement Mobility for Higher Education Institutions took place on March 10th.
We had the pleasure to invite the Santander Group members to participate in a workshop on the co-operation in the in the field of work placements, internships and stages.

Universities nowadays are concerned about quality issues in higher education in order to meet the requirements of modern economy and job markets. The quality of education is reflected in students’ competences resulting from a combination of the academic theory and practical skills acquired in the course of the placements or internships in the business world.

The European Union offers a great opportunity for undergraduates and graduates alike to prepare optimally for their entry into the working world. However, a successful operation of the programme falls under responsibilities of individual universities. Given the fact that the professional mobility of students often goes beyond national borders, the Santander Group with its 36 member universities from 17 European countries is in a good position to promote the concepts of professional mobility and multicultural working environment.

The proposed workshop presented general developments within ERASMUS Placement mobility and possibilities for networking. In the course of interactive roundtable discussions, the seminar also aimed to explore possibilities of the Santander Group’s new schemes or activities in co-operation with our member institutions in areas such as quality issues, good practices in management and recognition of the placement programmes within the framework of the Erasmus Placement mobility scheme.
