The Santander Group signed a co-operation agreement with the ASCUN network, the Colombian Universities' Association on 19th September 2009 in Madrid during the annual EAIE Conference.

ASCUN is a non profit association that brings together Colombian Universities, creating a space of integration and interaction in the Colombian academic community, promoting quality, autonomy and social responsability.

Some of ASCUN's objectives are to:

• Promote and defend the autonomy of Colombian universities according to the principles dictated in the Political Constitution of Colombia and the Founding act of ASCUN;

• To reinforce and disseminate the fundamental principles of higher education so as to contribute to national cohesion and to the material and spiritual progress of the Nation;

• Establish relationships with international university networks and their members;
