The SG Summer School 2008 took place in Catania from 14th – 20th July 2008.
Within the activities of the SANMED task force aiming at encouraging strong links in the Mediterranean Area and promoting the cooperation between the SG members, the University of Catania organized the SG Summer School 2008 under the title “Linguistic Mediation and Intercultural Dialogue between development and Integration in the Mediterranean Area”.
The Summer School took place in the University of Catania and dealt with five main aspects:
• History and culture in the Mediterranean Basin
• The EU policy towards a Euro-Mediterranean Area
• Economic transition in the Euro-Mediterranean Area
• Prospects and challenges of the Intercultural Dialogue in the Euro Mediterranean Area
• Building a community of intercultural communication, information and mutual understanding
The program offered a variety of extracurricular activities expressly organized for all participants: a welcome dinner, a cultural visit at the city centre, an excursion to Syracuse organized in collaboration with the Faculty of Architecture, afternoons at the beach, a farewell dinner.
Students were provided with an attendance certificate which will be evaluated by their home universities to receive free credits.
